April is the Month of the Military Child, and Purple Up Day is observed on April 15 of each year.  This is the perfect time to show admiration and respect for our nation's youngest heroes...military children!    

Military children are resilient and frequently have to adjust to new social norms within schools, communities, and an ever-changing support network. In April, we will celebrate our military children and their ongoing sacrifices by engaging in various activities throughout the entire month.

Upcoming Military Connection Observation Dates

  • November 2023 – Military Family Appreciation Month  
  • Nov. 11, 2023 – Veterans Day – This is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice Treaty, which ended World War I and is also a day to thank military Veterans for their service. At Regina Howell, we honor our Veteran's Day program each year to celebrate those who have served our country and include local Veterans, parents, and staff members. Children sing songs and display artwork to pay tribute to our Veterans.
  • April 2023 - Month of the Military Child - We celebrate by wearing purple, having a breakfast for children of military families, and participate in the National Purple Up Day.
  • May 2023 - National Military Appreciation Month
